I just love being a mommy. Josh is such a treasure. Our four-month old is getting to be so much fun. He smiles in recognition of his people, especially mommy and daddy. I noticed this last weekend. Josh was crying and his grandmother tried to comfort him. I took him and he stopped crying instantly. He'll also laugh when you do something funny.
On July 6, Ken called me into Josh's bedroom. "Kristy, you've got to see this." Josh was crying because he was stuck on his stomach. He'd rolled over and gotten to his tummy which he doesn't like. We'd thought that he'd learned to roll the month before, but that was purely the gravity of lying on my bed and falling toward me. He rolled again at daycare that day and then Ken and I watched him roll on the exam table at the doctor's the next day. Now he has to learn how to go from stomach to back so that he doesn't have to fuss. This new mobility has some other challenges. Friday we found Josh sticking his legs out of the bed. He gets this from his daddy. Ken was all over the bed when he was a child. His parents never knew where they would find him.
His coordination has improved significantly. Everything goes into his mouth. The improvement over last month is that he can get the item to his mouth on his own. Feet and toys are also fun.

His 4-month old check up was very good. Dr. Maves was very pleased with his growth and development. He is 12 lbs 12 oz and 26". This is the 12 percentile for weight and 86th for height. We've got a long, skinny boy. This explains why he needs 6 month old pjs and onesies (for their length) and 3 month old shorts or pants (waist).

Hurray for Josh! Rolling onto his stomach is good for forcing some tummy time =)
Emmet's two-month checkup is Tuesday - we'll have to compare weights...
