CA 1&2- Relaxing

Mothers and sisters-in-law will be so proud of us. We really are relaxing on vacation. After a crazy couple of weeks, it was VERY much needed.

SATURDAY
We slept in on Saturday (as much as we could with jet lag) and both took morning naps. We took a 1.67 mile walk to pick up our rental car. We got a Lincoln. This is not your grandparents' Lincoln. It has satellite radio, seat coolers (in addition to warmers), dual climate control, IPOD docking station and an incredible turning radius. We will be very comfortable driving to LA.

After lunch, we piled three bikes into Jeff's SUV and went to Mission Bay. We rode around the bay and along the boardwalk. We didn't get in an wrecks while gawking at the houses/rentals along the shore. Lifestyles of the CA rich and famous begins again.

SUNDAY
Sunday morning we attended Jeff's church, Shadow Mountain. The music is INCREDIBLE and the preaching is amazing. Dr. Jeremiah is preaching on Revelation. This book of the Bible can be very intimidating and difficult to read. The pastor agreed that this is a common belief, but stated that it is satan's desire that we don't study it. The devil doesn't want us to know what will happen to people who do not give their hearts and lives to Jesus today. It is really scary what will happen in those end days. I do not want that for any of my friends or loved ones. It is reassuring for myself that Ken and I and other Christians will be taken to Heaven before those tough times happen. After church, we set out on a mission to find the Colts game. Unfortunately, Jeff's nearby bar wasn't showing it. We then decided to try to watch it over the Internet. No luck. So, we watched the Vikings/Steelers game and Ken updated us on the Colts' score via his Fantasy Football stat tracker.

After getting a dose of NFL, we headed to the beach. The guys played Boccie ball and tossed around a football. I read a magazine and people-watched. We all went swimming- at least for a few minutes. That water is cold!

Dinner was a SoCal tradition- In-N-Out Burger. If any of you try to eat there, make sure that you review the "Secret Menu" before going. The regular menu is about 4 items deep other than drinks: Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Double-Double, and Fries. If you don't review it, you'll get into the situation that we got into. We were waiting for our order and start looking around and see people with loaded fries. We wanted those. Only now do I know that those were "Animal Style".

After dinner, we played a competitive game of canasta. The lead changed at least 3 times. Unfortunately, Ken was the leader at the end.
