Back in Hamburg

We arrived back in Hamburg on Thursday night and sent the family on their way back to the US on Friday morning. Reality set back in as I had to go back to work that day. Oh well, we've gotta pay for these trips somehow!

Salzburg was a truly beautiful city, but even moreso was the countryside outside of the city, filled with lakes and mountains. I'm sure we'll make a return trip back there someday! We arrived in Salzburg at a bit after 4am, by way of the night train from Venice. After orientating ourselves we headed for the hotel. We checked in and luckily they had a couple of rooms ready for us. Needless to say, we crashed for a few hours before heading out to see the sights.

We walked through the downtown area for much of the morning and split into two groups for the afternoon tours. The women went on the Sound of Music tour, to see all the sights from the movie and sing out of key together on the bus to the songs from the movie. The guys, wanting nothing to do with this, went on a seperate tour to see the lakes and mountains of the Salzburg area. Amazing scenery! After dinner at a famous Biergarten, we got caught up in the only rain shower that we had the whole trip. We got clobbered!

We returned to Hamburg the next day on the train via Munich to bring our journey to a close. Now we look forward to our next trip in a couple of weeks when Cary and Kristi come to visit us!
