Introducing Joshua William Lawrance

We would like to introduce you to Joshua William Lawrance, born March 2, 2o1o at 9:51 AM EST. He was born 6 pounds, 9 oz and is 21.5" long. Both mom and baby are doing well, and mom did a wonderful job during the c-section (he was breach). The jury is still out on dad, however...

We will provide periodic updates on the blog as time permits, so stay tuned! If anyone is wanting to visit (St. Vincent Women's Hospital, Townshipline Rd and 86th St, Indianapolis) or talk to us, please call Ken's cell phone (317-509-1716).

Thanks to all of our many friends and family for your prayers and support.

Til next time,

Ken and Kristy, and Josh

Fort Wayne Shower

My mom remarried last March. With this, I got a whole new family. The Wannemachers have been amazing in welcoming Mom, Jeff, and me into their family. As adults, Ryan, Rhonda and Dusty didn't have to give us the time of day. Yet, they've really opened their hearts and lives to us.
On the 17th, Rhonda and Ashley threw Little Guy and us a baby shower. It was a wonderful time. Pictures are posted in the photos link to the left. Here are a few that made me smile.
Sarah, Julie, Mandi, Melissa and I were in high school band together. Sarah and I worked
at Camp Lutherhaven the same summer. Julie's mom and mine pushed us in our strollers together. Mandi and I went to kindergarten together and battled in 2nd grade as to whose brother would be born first. They were both due the same week. Hers came early and I actually cried. She already had a brother. It wasn't fair that she got her second brother before I got my first. Melissa and I met in fourth grade when we both started playing clarinet.

We played a game where everyone had to guess how big around I was. My mother-in-law was the winner.

The cake was made of ice cream. Yummy. Ashley's baby seems to have liked it, too!

Our Christmas Present

I didn't know that "waiting" until Christmas would turn me into a child. I couldn't sleep all night Christmas Eve knowing that we would find out whether our baby was a boy or girl. Ken teased me about it since I was the one that didn't want to know until the baby was born. So, finally, at 5:45, I couldn't wait any longer. Ken and I opened our presents to one another and then, after 2 months of storing our news in an envelope, opened it.

Ken gave a huge fist pump to be the father of a boy. I'm pretty excited, too, because I've had some panic attacks lately about raising a teenage girl!
Then, I got the surprise that Baby Boy Lawrance's daddy has been shopping. He was prepared with both boy and girl clothes- just in case. The one on the right has an adorable 5 baseball patch on the backside. I can just picture him with a pudgy diaper butt with the baseball on it next summer. Of course, he has to have a shark outfit to prepare to join this SCUBA family and his first Mommy outfit.

My Favorite Things

On December 5, my sister-in-law Megan and three dear friends, April, Jenn and Margaret threw our "Little One" a wonderful baby shower. They chose the theme "Favorite Things". The first thing that they did was ask the guests to share their favorite child/baby memory, baby product, or words of wisdom. It was so neat to have everyone stand up and share. The second surprise was that our game was the Price is Right. I FINALLY got to come on down! It was really good that I didn't get on the real show because baby products are a whole lot more expensive than I knew- especially diapers and formula. The menu was Kristy's favorite foods including cupcakes made in ice cream cones, punch with raspberries, and NO CHOCOLATE.

It was a wonderful experience- thank you ladies!!

Pictures can be found on our photo link.

Long time since posting

Okay, the cat's fully out of the bag now and we can start putting baby updates on our blog. Most of you that read this have know for some time that Ken and I are expecting our first child around March 5. One of the true blessings of this experience has been sharing the news with friends and family. This weekend, I had the joy of sharing our news in person with a friend of ours from Germany, Meggan. We've been planning a trip to St. Louis to see her for about 6-8 months. I really did not want her to find out over the blog and and I couldn't remember who I'd given the address to in Hamburg.

So, if by any chance, you are someone who reads our blog and didn't know that we're having a baby- surprise!! According to the ultrasound last week, everything is fine with this little one. The doctor said he/she is on-target for his/her due date and that our conversations would be "boring" because he/she looks completely normal. (Well, as normal as Lawrances can ever go.)

Everyone asks if we are going to find out the baby's gender before birth. After much negotiation between his/her mother (who wanted to wait until birth) and his/her father (who wanted to know immediately), we decided at the ultrasound to put the gender in an envelope. Next week we will be going to see Jeff in California. Once again we will be going to the Price is Right. If either of us gets on the show, we will open the envelope on national TV.

Stay tuned!
